Mattia Lynchard was born and raised on Long Island, NY. She has an associates degree in Applied Science in Marketing and Management. She and her husband, Joe, moved to Virginia in 1998 with their four children, Mike, Nick, Justin and Hannah. She was a stay at home mom and homeschooled them all. As they got older, she pursued working in retail management for 15 years. Overall, being a wife and mom was her most rewarding role.
My Story
Life drastically changed for Mattia when her son Justin was involved in a near death accident in September, 2022. He was diagnosed with a Diffuse Axonal III severe TBI and multiple severe injuries. Mattia began a 3 year journey of researching, learning, getting certified as a caregiver by the VA, all while implementing her skills with her son when he was sent home only 6 months after his tragic accident. She has learned to navigate through the daunting procedures of both the private medical field as well as the Veterans Administration. She has collaborated and connected with countless other non profit organizations that have proved to be the bastion of hope for disabled persons. She has connected with and made lifelong friendships with other disabled persons along with their caregivers all of which have provided her with the inspiration to start this life's new journey. Her motto and battlecry is "Unless you have been through this, you wouldn't understand it, I know I wouldn't have.....and here we are.....there's no going back"
Connect
Connecting with people in similar situations and having the opportunity to help others is what this life is about. When you are fortunate enough to see the blessing through a tragedy it compels you to bless others in their tragedy. It becomes an obsession.
